Profile settings: Invalid email address bounce backs and Reply To:
There are three preference settings for email display in an Individuals user profile.
These settings have two affects important to users who post to Forums where parents/guests subscribe using the FORUM SUBSCRIPTIONS BLOCK.
If your setting is "Hide my email address from everyone" OR "Allow only other course members to see my email address" then:
- You will NOT receive bounce backs from invalid email addresses when you make a Forum Post. All bounce backs will be sent to the District Site Admin and email addresses will be deleted without notification.
- The email message a subscriber receives will look like this...
Replace the Admin User information with your Name/Email address.
The Reply To: shows "Do not reply to this email" and if the receiver goes ahead and hits reply the words "Do not reply to this email" will go into the To: field. if they send the message anyway they will get a bounce back/undelivered message.
If your setting is "Allow everyone to see my email" then:
- You will receive all bounce backs from invalid email addresses when you make a Forum Post.
- The email message a subscriber receives will look like this...
Replace the Admin User information with your Name/Email address.
In this case the receiver can hit Reply and the sender's email address will go into the To: field and they can send email replies.
